Filmfare Award

The Filmfare Awards ceremony is one of the oldest and most prominent film events given for Hindi films in India. This awards were first introduced in 1953. Readers of Filmfare magazine were polled to decide the winners, and over 20,000 readers spread throughout India participated in the polls; trophies were given to winners of the popular vote.

The Filmfare awards were first introduced in 1954, the same year as the National Film Awards and referred to as the Clare Awards after the magazine's editor. In the first awards function, held on 21 March 1954, only five awards were presented – for the best film , the best director, the best actor, the best actress, and the best music director.

Do Bigha Zameen was the first movie to win the award for the best film. The first four winners for other categories were: Bimal Roy for direction of Do Bigha Zameen, Dilip Kumar for his performance in Daag, Meena Kumari for her performance in Baiju Bawra, and Naushad for his music in Baiju Bawra.

In 1956, a dual voting system was developed. Under this system, "in contrast to the National Film Awards, which are decided by a panel appointed by Indian Government, the Filmfare Awards are voted for by both the public and a committee of experts."

Mohd Rafi got his first Filmfare Award for the title song of Chaudhvin Ka Chand(1960) and wons again in 1961 (Teri Pyaari Pyaari Surat Ko song in the film Sasural), 1964 (Chahunga Mein Tujhe song in the film Dosti), 1966 (Baharon Phool Barsao song in the film Suraj), 1968 (Dil Ke Jharoke Mein song in the film Brahmachari), and 1977(Kya Hua Tera Vaada song in the film Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin).

Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965)

Synopsis
Jab Jab Phool Khile is the story of East and West and where and how they meet. Rita's parents want her to marry, but she goes on a vacation to Srinagar. There, a poor boatman Raja falls in love with her. One day she leaves for Bombay, but Raja is hopeful that she might return. She comes back with Kishore, who does not like Raja. He saves her in an accident. Raja then follows Rita to Bombay and is educated, but he finds out quickly that East is East and West is West.
